S.L.E.S. allegedly impacts our skin. Why is our skin so important? IT…..

  • Protects our internal organs from infection and injury
  • Removes wastes through sweat
  • Helps our immune system by providing a  barrier to viruses and bad bacteria, thus assisting with the prevention of  infections.
  • Provides a healthy environment for good bacteria
  • Helps maintain the temperature of our body.
  • Seals in moisture(which is good considering we are mostly water!)
  • Helps produce Vitamin D
  • Helps provide sensory feeback to the brain(hot/cold etc)

What’s The Fuss About?

Every health guru seems to be firmly on the side of anti-SLES. Why? These are the allegations levelled at SLES:
  • Irritation of the eyes and skin
  • Toxicity of the organs
  • Developmental and reproductive toxicity
  • Neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption, ecotoxicology, and biochemical or cellular changes
  • A possibility of cancer or mutations.
At Window Cleaning Perth we always aim to use natural ingredients where possible. However, what studies are there to support these allegations?
According to Mercola.com, there are 16000 studies to be conerned about.  Their article also goes on to elaborate more on the damaging effects of this chemical.
So, as a parent, what should you do? As owner of Perth window cleaning, I have children, 3 of them, and I always make it a priority to make informed decisions, due diligence, if you will. The conclusion I reached personally is that I prefer to use natural(organic, non-GMO) ingredients where possible. However, I also recognise that it is impossible to live life in a bubble, so I know that it is impossible to completely shield oneself from all toxins.
As an imperfect parent, I know that I can’t do everything that I would like for my kids, but I will try to do the best for them, nonetheless. What will you decide?
