Climbing ladders takes time. It is unavoidable, and, most window cleaners break safety regulations by not having someone hold the ladder whilst they climb. Water fed poles remove this problem since the operator never leaves the ground!

But how do you use a water fed pole? Firstly, obtain the right equipment. In Perth, where the TDS of water is about 400 ppm, to bring this level down to zero requires Reverse Osmosis, a D.I. tank and a Carbon pre-filter. However, where the water quality is better, you can probably get away with just a 6 litre DI tank to get your water purity to about 1 or 0 parts per million(ppm).

The next essential piece of equipment is a pole and brush. These can be quite expensive. A pole, brush and pole hose package thta is good enough to use professionally, can cost nearly $1000. However, when you consider how much time you'll save, and the corresponding increase in income, a full time window cleaner may be able to recuperate the outlay in as little as a week.

Technique

Since you won't need to squeegee the windows, it is just a matter of brushing down the windows using the pure water that flows through your Pure Water unit. Sound easy? It can be, however there is a little technique that must be mastered. Firstly decide how you will approach the window frames. Will you clean them or avoid them? I favour cleaning the frames first. This means scrubbing the top and side frames of the whole property before concentrating on the glass. What this does is ensure that no dirty spots will drip down on the glass after you have cleaned it.

Once the frames have been scrubbed, go back to the first window and now scrub the glass, this time avoiding the frames. Because you have already cleaned the frames, it will not matter if, when you clean the glass, that you don't get right into the corners, they should already have been cleaned when you focused on the frames. So, now, concentrating on the glass but avoiding the frames, scrub the glass from top to bottom. Repeat a second time. Then, leave the window to dry.

Because it is pure water, allowing the window to dry should prevent any drops or streaks.

There! This is the basic technique to using a water fed pole. However, if you live in Perth, contact Rekommended, or MyWindowCleaner, and we will do the job for you!
